As we greet the beginning of the second month of the year, February, there is no better time to settle in on those New Years resolutions, goals, and objectives that we set. January is, perhaps, the most exciting month of the New Year when it comes to pushing the reset button and promising ourselves that something about the New Year is going to be very different and also great!

In the complex where I live, I can basically use the fitness facility at any time. There are always a few who come early in the morning before they leave for work. During the day, I basically have the entire facility to myself. However, once we hit January 2, 2024, the scene changed dramatically as now we have a crowd at all times of the day and evening. Without interviewing anyone, we can easily guess at what the new motivation to use the facility might be….a New Years Resolution! The crowd will probably taper off by mid-March at the latest. The mindset triggered by a New Year is to reset or start something new. This mindset is a wonderful mindset as it renews our hopes and beliefs in our ability to always strive to be better.

February is the month to get specific. What are you planning to do this year from an income earning, life enhancement perspective that you did not accomplish last year? Chances are you may desire to earn more to save and invest more or simply reduce debt, pay-off debt and live with a bit more happiness and peace of mind regarding whatever is most important to you.

Your membership in the Association for Entrepreneurship is designed to support you wherever you may be as you start something, perhaps very different from anything that you have ever done before. The possibility is always there for those who seek possibilities and the choices have never been greater in terms of the flexible income opportunities that are available to you as a freelancer who markets a special expertise, independent contractor who affiliates with an established brand to sell their products or services, or work as a 1099 worker in the format of your choice working the hours that you desire to work, not the hours mandated by traditional employee type work.

Here are a few thoughts for you as you think through your plans for the New Year:

  1. Do you need to learn anything new?
  2. What information do you need to be able to learn something that you do not know?
  3. What has keeping you from doing more of what you would really like to do?

Your membership in AFE is focused on providing you with educational, informative reading, listening opportunities via podcasts, and view opportunities via video deselected to inform and inspire, as well as access to products and services that are avaialble to you, not as an employee, but as an independent worker in any format.
