So many factors can affect your productivity. Many of these factors are 100 percent in your control, at least in terms of how you react to them. Acknowledging the factors that can cause you to be less productive and then tweaking how you do things can make all the difference…

  • Your Environment – If the room you’re in is too hot, too cold, noisy, or even if it smells funny, it can affect how you perform the tasks you’re doing. For this reason, it’s important to make sure your environment is conducive for the tasks that you want to complete on time…
  • The Wrong Tools – If you’re trying to use old or the wrong tools for the job, you will not be as productive as if you did use those tools. People do have problems with change, it’s normal, but don’t keep using an abacus when you can use a calculator…
  • Lack of Sleep – Most people need between 7 and 9 hours of sound sleep each night. Make your bedroom a sanctuary. It should be dark, cool, void of technology, and used mostly only for being quiet and sleeping…
  • Poor Health – If you are not feeling your best, it will be hard to boost productivity. However, you can do things to modify how you do things if needed. For example, if you have a chronic illness that causes pain, you’ll have to adjust what, when, where, and how you do your work…
  • Busy Work – Many people who are not very productive get frustrated because they feel as if they’re working all the time. That’s because they are doing things just to do them. Analyze the impact of what you’re doing. Do the things that have the most impact…
  • Lack of Training – If you don’t know how to do something, you won’t be as productive as someone who has the training to do it. For this reason, outsourcing and delegating tasks to those who have the training is very beneficial in terms of being more productive…
  • Life Happening – Your life just gets in the way sometimes of productivity. It can be internal or external factors causing issues. However, for most things, you can make a plan that considers everything, but still improves your use of time, based on what is truly possible…

Adjusting these factors that affect your productivity can boost your efficiency exponentially. It doesn’t matter if it’s about managing your household or managing a business. Being more productive, means that you get more of the right things done that have an impact on the results that you want to see.
