Having employees with a low turnover rate is an important factor when running your own business. And the way you treat your employees will be very important to the overall success of your business. The benefits you give your employees is one of the major reasons they will want to work for you. That is why incorporating benefits that stand out in comparison to other businesses will help your business thrive. Here are some of my personal favorites.
Provide flexible work schedules
With the uncertainties life can throw you from day to day, I think we’ve all learned a thing or two about flexibility. And allowing employees to work from home can be an enticing perk. If that isn’t feasible for your line of work, then being more flexible with the hours employees come and go to work is. Even becoming more generous with allowing those paid time off requests would be helpful. Be mindful, because although you do have a business to run, people have lives beyond that.
Inspire growth, as individuals and as part of a team
Give employees opportunities that will set them up for future growth. Contribute towards furthering their education, or to the skills necessary for their position. Monthly group outings can inspire and build togetherness. Mentor those surrounding you as well. If you care about your business and put in the same amount (or more) worth of effort, then your employees will do the same. Teach and lead by example!
Support physical wellness as well as mental health
Employees who enjoy their jobs will put forth their best efforts for your company, allowing for your business to stand apart from others and more importantly, to flourish and grow. Supporting the wellness of your employees can range from things such as longer break times in an atmosphere that is calm and relaxing to expanding to a better health coverage. Designate monthly or weekly In-office lunches in which you have catered. You could also offer personal massages provided in office or for discounted rates on employees’ own time.
