Everyone has different levels of grief going on in their life. Many of these forms of grief can be seen on people’s bodies (for example, being overweight), but many forms of grief aren’t seen (for example, the alcoholic who hides their drinking).

When there is internal grief, no one can necessarily see it just by looking at someone. The common denominator is they are ALL fighting battles; Often silent battles.

Some people are good at fighting these battles, but a lot of people, especially entrepreneurs, constantly get into battles they don’t know how to fight. And, interestingly, people that fight a lot of fires can oftentimes be arsonists.

The question is this: Are you lighting flames that are lighting up your life and the world – Or – Are you burning yourself up in your own house?

You want to identify where the fish are, that you are fishing for. You want to identify the lake they are in. And the greatest lake to fish in is… Your own lake. Your own Clients.

As the saying goes, “Birds of a feather flock together.” I wonder if there’s a similar idiom… but using fish? 🙂 This could mean focusing on referrals. But it could also mean focusing on OTHER referral networks, podcasts, and so on.

Of course, on any media channel, you can find fish. But to find the IDEAL fish you want to catch, it requires more sophisticated targeting. 

If you had an endorsement from a well-respected individual who worked with the type of Clients you want to work with, that might help you find all the people you want even easier than, for example, trying to go to social media. So, this is more a function of List Selection, Endorsements, Proper Targeting, and Messaging, than it is fishing in a “media channel lake”.

HOW you target people is important. Put more focus on it, and it will make your fishing results MUCH more profitable and enjoyable.
