Fiverr.com has generated a following recently as the place for a plethora of freelance marketing materials and services. However, in this gig economy, there are 100’s of freelancers and platforms competing for your marketing dollar. So, is Fiverr worth the hype?

Benefits

Buying a product or service on this platform is fast and efficient. You can create an account and go through the entire payment process within minutes. If you’re worried about getting the most out of money, you can price compare between freelancers.

To find out the quality of a Fiverr seller, you can find a rating and feedback score easily on their profile. Each freelancer’s contact info is also readily available if you have any further questions. If you have anything specific in mind, the sheer variety of freelancers enables you to find the seller that suits your needs. From a business card designer to a voice-over specialist for your ad, Fiverr has anything you need.

Drawbacks

While you can find plenty of information on sellers, fake reviews run rampant on the platform. Many freelancers offer a money-back satisfaction guarantee, but the amount of time and effort lost on your part is unfathomable.

There is also no set standard for the quality of work. Fiverr offers services for as little as five dollars, so depending on the freelancer, you do get what you pay for. Anyone can create an account on the platform, so you’re not necessarily guaranteed professional service or craftsmanship.

Is it worth all the notoriety it has received? It all depends on the type of buyer you work with and the authenticity of their promoted work and reviews. If a buyer seems questionable, do your due diligence and search for their website or buyer reviews outside of Fiverr. If you’re an AFEUSA member, you can find reliable reviews and advice from a trusted community of fellow entrepreneurs on our discussion boards.
