Do you know where the vast majority of the money we make comes from? Bad news.
If you’re hungry, that’s bad news. If you own a restaurant, it’s good news. If you break your leg, that’s bad news. If you’re a doctor, it’s good news. If a loved one dies, that’s bad news. If you’re in the mortuary business, it’s good news.
Imagine if there weren’t people who helped in these jobs when bad things happen…
Think about taking out the trash. You have to get it out of your house and take it outside where someone can pick it up. So many people hate taking out the trash because it sucks.
There are third world countries where people would LOVE to have someone come pick up their trash if all they needed to do was take it outside. You should be thankful you have someone to pick up your trash.
Listen, I may sometimes complain about things when they don’t go exactly as planned. But the point is, I’m training myself more and more to think about the good things in life. What a luxury it is that people will come and pick up my trash. That’s amazing. It really is.
What small or big thing could you be thankful for in your life right now if you wanted to be? We get so hung up on how difficult life is… but it often pales in comparison when you look at some places people live in the world and the pain and suffering they have to go through.
If you have something that will transform someone’s bad news into good news, and you can reduce human suffering, you better be influential and tell as good a story as you can so they can pay you for that transformation… and… you will be making people happy.
