Napoleon Bonaparte said, “A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of coloured ribbon.” When you ask most people who go to college, “What are you going to college for?”, what I’ve noticed is they rarely, if ever, state the RESULT they are hoping to get out of college. They talk about the degree. They say, “Business degree”, or “Finance degree”, or “Biology degree”, and so on.
Why? Because college is not framed around getting a Result. The Entrepreneurial world pursues a different sort of school.
What formal schooling doesn’t teach you is Persuasion, Confidence, Character, and more. We can’t forget, everyone has a Blue Ribbon. The Blue Ribbon is often a Result; A Result like Status, or Appreciation, or Love. Transformational Results can mean helping people feel okay in the world. Helping people feel okay with their lives. Helping people feel like their Success and Achievements matter, because they do.
Nathaniel Branden was considered “The Father of Self-Esteem”. At the end of his life, he said to my friend and Genius Network® Member Patrick Gentempo, “Leisure is a valid human activity.”
When you’re a Driven Entrepreneur, leisure doesn’t seem valid. Yet, it can be a Blue Ribbon. Discover peoples Blue Ribbons. People will do what they want, and you can help them get what they want, no matter what it is, as long as it’s moral, legal, and ethical. Whatever we think and feel a Result is, isn’t necessarily what THEY think and feel is a Result. Remember: We are not our own Customers. Find out what their Blue Ribbon is, and help them get it.
