In the business world, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of immediate results. But let me share a secret: True success isn’t just about selling and enticing in the short term. It’s about playing the long game. While quick wins might be tempting, they often don’t lead to sustainable growth or deep, meaningful relationships in business.

At Genius Network, we prioritize not being transactional. It’s about genuine engagement, not just doing something because there’s an immediate benefit. This approach might mean leaving money on the table at times, but it leads to more authentic and lasting relationships in the long run.

Life and business are full of contradictions. We’re often caught between what we want now and what’s best for us in the long term. It’s about recognizing these contradictions and making choices that align with our long-term goals and values, not just immediate desires. In every interaction, it’s vital to keep genuine care for clients at the forefront. It’s not about pleasing everyone, but about maintaining integrity and authenticity in every decision and action we take.

Remember: short-term gains might look appealing, but it’s the long-term strategy that matters most. How are you playing your long game? Sometimes I’ll talk to people who want to make something happen in the world and they will say to me, “Joe, who do you know that I can hire to do my marketing for me?”

It’s at this point that I’ll mention to them that, in my entire 25 years of doing marketing, I have never met a single person that did well by trying to “hire someone to do the marketing.”

Understand this: Marketing is the core that makes everything you do work. It’s the engine that powers what you do. Unless you are immersed in understanding and revering marketing, you are flying blind – or worse, putting what you do at risk. Here’s what I tell people: Don’t ever delegate marketing that you don’t first understand. If you do, you’re going to have a bad time. What should you do instead? Get educated. Learn the fundamentals.
