While every business is different, there are a number of essentials every business needs. We all know computers and printers are absolutely necessary, but here are three examples of other things your business will need.

Business phone

While some business owners have no problem giving out a personal line or their cell phone number, having a dedicated business phone (or several) can be crucial. You need a phone number that customers and potential customers can reliably use to reach you during business hours. There are many different models of phone available. Be sure to get one that best suits your business’s needs.

Network connectivity

Not all internet modems and wireless routers are created equal. While most internet service providers rent modems to customers for a monthly fee, you can skip this cost and buy your own dedicated modem. Additionally, this will allow you to choose between hard-wiring your system or using a wireless system. If you choose to use a wireless router, make sure it can handle all of the devices you’re connecting to it. Working with an IT company can help you decide what is best for your business.

Shredder

All businesses deal in sensitive customer data. Just as you never want to skimp on internet security and firewall protection, you never want to leave paper documents vulnerable either. Whether it’s employee information or customer information (such as mailing lists, financial data, or other confidential information), you need a reliable way to dispose of it when the time comes. Simply throwing it in the trash or recycling is never an option.
