In the pursuit of getting results, there is a BIG difference between “doing things rights” versus “doing the right things”.
You can do the wrong thing in a really efficient way (for example, climbing up the wrong ladder really quickly!). You can also do the right thing very wrong (for example, trying to climb up the right ladder with your legs tied).
The key thing to ask yourself is, “What are the right things that I’m doing …AND… need to do?” Do more of the first (while you eliminate, delegate, or outsource the distractions) – and focus on the second (what you need to do). This is one way you can avoid confusing activity with accomplishment.
Will it take work? Yes. Will there be moments of overwhelm? Yes. But it’s amazing how quickly you can come up with SOLUTIONS when you take just a bit of time to find them. As my friend Dave Kekich put it in his Kekich Credo’s: “#44. An hour of effective, precise, hard, disciplined – and integrated thinking can be worth a month of hard work. “ You can figure out solutions to almost any problem very quickly.
Remember this: A business is a bundle of problems. There would be no work if there were no problems to solve. As an Entrepreneur, you GET TO solve problems – big and small. Ordinarily people see problems as a nuisance, a pain, or something to be rid of; Entrepreneurs see problems as a currency—generally accepted by people and in abundantly available. For YOU, problems are a currency you transform into knowledge and wealth. Problems are Entrepreneurial wealth.
