A lot of people have TONS of money, yet live in prisons with golden bars. There are other people that don’t make money at all, and they are wonderful, lovely, happy, connected human beings.
Most of the people I know (not ALL, but MOST) who have created enormous wealth, is driven by pain. They were (and often still are) trying to escape something.
Having said this, I believe addiction is a response to trauma, but I’m careful when saying this because so many people speak in what Best-Selling Author Caroline Myss calls “Woundology”. They tell their story of trauma and use it as a reason why they are all messed up.
Don’t misunderstand: There IS real hurt and pain and REAL experiences that have happened to people…BUT…it’s what you DO with what happens.
When something happens “TO” you, you can either be disabled by it – OR – you can look at what it does ‘FOR’ you, and you can LEARN FROM IT.
When you’ve learned to overcome obstacles and you gain capabilities, you realize the insight you learned for getting out of the trap you were in can be valuable to someone who is currently in, or walking into, the same trap.
You can help them not only avoid it, but, if they happen to fall into the trap, you know how to get them out of it.
