I often have people reach out to me asking to start projects or be involved in interesting ideas. To protect my T.A.M.E.E. (Time, Attention, Money, Energy, and Effort), I’ve made it a point of focusing on things WITHIN my Genius Network® group.
I’ve even gotten requests to have Genius Network in other countries, but I only do things with people unless they are already IN Genius Network.
Yes, there ARE things here and there where an introduction leads to a project outside Genius Network, for example with addiction and recovery. I spend half my time helping people that struggle with addictions. So there is flow over into non-Genius Network members’ lives, but it all really comes from within the Genius Network community.
It’s not that I don’t like the project proposals that get sent to me from people outside Genius Network. Many of them are really cool! And I really love being helpful to whatever degree I can. It’s just that it’s really hard for people outside the group to understand what it’s like be in the Genius Network community from outside of it…but once they are in it, they almost always get it, and it starts to make sense why we keep focused on Genius Network members.
Here’s something worth thinking about: New and great opportunities can obviously come from outside…but maybe the deepest, most meaningful opportunities exist where you already are. Maybe it’s these “Inside Opportunities” that are where more focus should flow.
