Your biggest breakthroughs are going to come from saying NO. Whenever you say YES to anything, you’re saying NO to something else. Part of your progress is leaving behind the people and things that aren’t accelerators. If you’re a rockstar, and you’re a rocket ship, you can’t be flying with paper airplanes… You must align yourself with other rockets. Upgrade your standards of what you will allow into your life. Prove your worth to yourself.
If you have something that is going to transform someone’s life or help them, WRITE ABOUT IT. TALK ABOUT IT. Put it out into the world. Make it awesome. Get engaged in it.
Who are you? What do you stand for? What’s your value system? You need to build that into your company, communicate it to the people you hire, and embody it by culture you have. Your business is the ultimate expression of your value system. Take what you believe in and care about, and turn it into a game that feeds you.
Gary Halbert was one of the greatest copywriters who ever lived. He was a good friend during one of the most difficult times in my life over 20 years ago. He would tell me: “Some games in life, the only way you win is you don’t play.” Pick the games you’re playing right now that you’re never going to win or that you don’t like. Get out of those games completely, or let someone else manage them.
As Dan Sullivan, 100K and Genius Network Member says, “You don’t want to be in control, you just want to be in charge.” If you don’t get other people who have the capabilities and skills you don’t have, you won’t grow effectively.
