How good are you at being bored?

Boredom doesn’t necessarily happen because we don’t have anything to do. It often happens because there’s nothing we’re curious about. People in every industry and career feel some amount of boredom toward their job — including athletes. For example, among elite athletes (college and professional leagues), monotonous/repetitive activities make up 34.8% of total boredom incidents. How much of your job is doing the same thing over and over again?

At the same time, doing these repetitive activities are often extremely important to our success. How do we get ourselves interested in them?

Consider who will benefit from the project you’re working on. How do your actions right now affect them? You can also try sparking your inspiration by thinking outside the box for a while. Steve Gordon, director of RDQLUS Creative Arts and Marketing, told Fast Company: “My boredom is usually the loss of curiosity. If I catch myself bored with a project, I’ll stop to read magazines or watch a film, even in the middle of the day. I search for something far away from work yet linked to the same battery crucial to that work.”

Accessing that battery isn’t always easy. Luckily, the Messinger Institute is designed to help you do just that.

Being a business owner can be destabilizing in every sense, but now, you can learn how to breathe a little easier. Nurture a mindset designed for success and fulfillment by learning how to balance your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual elements to achieve your ideal inner and outer alignment. AFEUSA members even get a complimentary entrepreneur program (normally $20 per month) and a premium on coaching prices (both group and individual) you won’t find anywhere else.
