We’ve talked about learning to handle rejection and facing all sorts of fears you might face as you start up your business. But beneath all that, you might still have your doubts. So when you have these fears and doubts, how do you reach your potential? Here are a few tips to get past everything that might be holding you back:

Move Forward

No one can move a parked car, so you’ve got to get yourself moving on way or another. When it comes to entrepreneurship, I don’t necessarily believe it’s possible to go backwards. Every mistake or failure is a learning opportunity moving you toward something better.   So if you’re not sure what to do or where to go, just take a step and see where you might end up. The only true failure is never moving forward.

Seize Opportunities To Improve Your Portfolio

The stronger your portfolio, the more confident you’re going to feel working with your clients. It also gives you the opportunity to hone your skills as an entrepreneur. So even if it means doing a few mundane tasks, it will help you in the long run.

Set Long-term Goals

When I first started out my undergraduate program, I studied psychology. I knew it wasn’t the right path for me when I couldn’t see myself pursuing psychology five years down the road. So when someone asks you where you see yourself two, five or even ten years from now, make sure you’re happy with your answer — and you lay out a plan to get yourself there.   Even if those plans change, you’re moving forward toward something you love. And as things change, they’ll change for good.

Learn To Say No

To achieve your true potential, you’ve got to trim the fat that might be holding you back. So many people are afraid to say no out of fear of offending someone or missing out on opportunities. Because of that, it’s easy for those people to get caught up in trivial matters and are unable to focus on what matters most.   Be deliberate in your goals and purposes. If something distracts you from that, cut it out.   There are always going to be more opportunities to learn. The greatest secret toward realizing your potential is humility. The true entrepreneur is never done growing and is never satisfied with staying where they are. As long as you’re seizing the opportunities to become better, you’re doing everything right.
