Your business might already be feeling the effects of the USPS slowdown, but have you prepared for how it could possibly affect you this holiday season? Here are a few strategies to consider implementing.
Drive your mail to the largest local distribution center.
Taking your letters and packages to the local post office might be adding an extra step to your mailing process. However, you may be able to cut down on time if you go the extra mile — literally — and take your packages to get mailed at a larger USPS mailing distribution center.
Budget to offer compensation to customers for the slow deliveries.
While the USPS slowdowns aren’t your fault, in the minds of the consumer, it still reflects poorly on your business when packages don’t arrive on time. You can bet that it’ll only grow worse over the holidays. Recover quickly by offering coupons or free replacement orders when possible to keep your customers satisfied.
Consider alternative mailing services.
Although they’re a bit more expensive, FedEx and UPS can still deliver your mail in a timely manner. Transfer as much of your priority mail to these services as you can if it’s particularly urgent.
