During the holiday season, you’re bound to get sick one way or another. But prolonged illness can be detrimental to your business’s productivity. Here are two simple ways to maintain your company’s progress while you get better.
Communication With Your Employees
Communication is vital to ensuring your employees get their tasks done. Call your manager or your team to notify them of how you’re feeling. Don’t make the trip to the office if doing so would risk spreading the bug. Make two check-in calls with your team to ensure that all tasks are being completed, one at mid-day and one at end-of-day. This will ensure your peace of mind, and your employees won’t feel micromanaged.
Assign a manager or a team lead for the day as well. Let this employee handle as much of your responsibilities as you feel comfortable with. It allows your employees to show their capabilities and gives you time to rest. It also ensures that, if you get again, you have team members who can reliably cover for you.
Utilize Your Resources
Depending on your business, you could complete the necessary tasks from the comfort of your bed. If you use team management programs like Monday.com, you can check your team’s task progress without even having to call. If you have a meeting that needs to happen, Skype is an excellent tool to conduct it without getting anyone else sick.
These are just some of the ways you can keep your business running smoothly without exerting yourself at the office. If you’re an AFEUSA member, utilize our discussion boards to find how other entrepreneurs handle these situations.
