Your success in a gig economy requires a different mode of thinking than other business environments. To rise above others competing for the same dollar, here are two tips to both survive and thrive.

Keep Your Brand Personal

Becoming a leader in a gig economy requires more than just expertise in your industry. You need to be able to communicate a personal branding strategy. Create valuable content like blog posts and social media content that show off your human side. Think about your core values and the benefits you can offer clients. Ensure those are continuously delivered through your marketing channels regularly.

Capitalize On Referrals

If you’re in a competitive industry, it can be hard to stand out and sell yourself. On the flip-side, it can be hard for consumers to discern who offers the best quality and service. When a client has had an exceptional experience, encourage them to provide referrals or testimonials. This technique will help your brand cut through the noise of competitor’s advertising. Referred customers are typically easier to work with as well due to the background information they already have on your customer experience.

These are just a couple of ways to succeed in a gig-economy. Use this as your starting point for your research. If you’re an AFE member, look over our discussion boards where our members provide countless tips and tricks to succeed.
