If you are an entrepreneur committed to your business, you can see how you are growing in different ways every day. But there will come a time when you are no longer able to handle everything on your own.

That is the moment when you need to start thinking about hiring new people who can help you with different tasks associated with your day-to-day activities. Of course, the kinds of people you hire and the tasks they will be doing solely depends on the type of business you have and the goals you want to achieve.

There are certain things that you have to take into consideration as an entrepreneur, whenever you hire new team members. The first one is to have a structure recruitment process, since it sets expectations for everyone.

This structure usually has three steps: Pre-interview, Interview, and Post-interview.  Depending on the candidate’s situation, you can be flexible with this process because they will be the ones who make the decision whether to accept the job or not, after the interview.

Once you have interviewed every candidate, then you must decide who you are going to hire. Make sure this decision does not take you a lot of time. Candidates often undergo a varying number of interviews at the same time, which means that other companies can hire them before you do.

However, we can guarantee that it will not take you a long time to decide who to hire if you are 100% sure that a candidate fits what you are looking for in your company.

That said, there are three factors that constitutes a bad hire: The candidate is only motivated by money, they come across as arrogant, or they have an unprofessional attitude – making effective communication difficult. If you found any of these characteristics in a candidate you interviewed, we recommend not considering this person in your hiring process any longer.

Finally, make sure you are recruiting for customer success. As we said before, you need to hire people that will help you achieve your company goals, and we are sure that one of those goals is making your customers happy on a consistent basis. If a candidate can’t guarantee the continual development of this goal, you may either consider another one, or consider training the new hire to the point where they can help you obtain that need.

If your company can’t recruit, then you cannot offer the value you want to provide for your customers. Obviously, you want people who can deliver quality work for them – but you can only find them through the hiring process.

Adding new talent onto your team is what will make your company get to the next level. That is why is so important to never stop searching. Place a part of your budget and a little bit of your effort into finding people who can help you along the way.

Owning and running a company is not something that you can do by yourself, even if it’s only you on the payroll. You will always need a helping hand – whether you are learning from a mentor or passing on a set of tasks to someone else.

Finding this kind of help can be easier than you think. Create your hiring process and see how everything begins to open up and develop in newer, better ways.
